Salary: $26.50 per hour; The gross salary paid is subject to applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions such as EI and CPP.
Vacation: 4% of the gross salary
Hours of Work: 35.0-44.0 Hours a week. Overtime rate (X1.5) applicable after 44 hours of work per week

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Work on the surface of motor vehicles and restore vehicle finishes, including removing exterior trim and hardware, matching colors and mixing paints, and preparing surfaces for painting.
  • Prepare metal surfaces for painting by sanding and masking
  • Mask off areas that should not be painted using tape and paper to prevent overspray and ensure clean paint lines
  • Apply primers, primer surfacers, paint, clearcoats and urethanes using brush or spray guns
  • Inspecting the finished paint job to ensure it meets quality standards. This includes checking for imperfections, color consistency, and proper blending of repaired and original surfaces.
  • Clean and polish painted surfaces, including removing and replacing decals
  • Apply undercoating treatments
  • Keeping accurate records of paint mixing ratios, color formulas, and work performed for future reference and warranty purposes.

Specific Job Requirements

  • Completion of Secondary school is required.
  • Paint Mixing and Application: Proficiency in mixing and applying various types of automotive paints, including basecoats, clearcoats, and primers.
  • Skill in sanding, masking, and preparing vehicle surfaces for painting.
  • Minimum one year work experience as an Automotive Painter in an automotive body repair shop or similar is required. Experience with spray guns, paint booths, and other painting equipment to achieve smooth and even paint finishes.
  • Basic English language proficiency required to understand work orders and to communicate with fellow workers.
