Job Description

We are looking for Concrete Finishers to join our teams. This is a full-time position.

Tasks:

• Assess the construction plans and blueprints to determine the exact placement and layout of concrete forms and structures.
• Install and secure the formwork (wood or metal molds) to create the desired shape and dimensions for the concrete structure.
• Prepare the concrete mixture by following precise recipes and mixing ratios, ensuring it meets the required specifications.
• Safely transport and pour the concrete into the designated formwork, taking care to avoid air pockets and ensure even distribution.
• Use a screed (usually a long, straight board) to level and smooth the concrete surface. This process removes excess concrete and creates a uniform, flat surface.
• Employ a float (a tool made of wood or metal) to further smooth and compact the surface. Floating helps eliminate imperfections and produces a consistent texture.
• Create clean edges and borders by using hand tools or mechanical edgers. This defines the shape and finish of the concrete.
• Depending on the desired finish (e.g., smooth, broom, or textured), use a broom or power trowel to achieve the appropriate surface texture and slip resistance.
• Apply curing compounds or cover the concrete with wet burlap, plastic sheeting, or curing blankets to maintain proper moisture levels during the curing process. This prevents cracks and ensures strength development.
• Protect the newly poured and finished concrete from environmental factors, such as rain, extreme temperatures, or excessive drying, that could negatively impact the curing process.
• Inspect the concrete surface for defects, such as cracks or imperfections, and determine the appropriate repair method.
• Use specialized materials and techniques to repair and patch any damaged or uneven areas, ensuring a uniform appearance and structural integrity.
• Adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and hard hats, as well as ensuring a safe work environment.
• After completing the finishing process, clean and maintain tools and equipment, remove excess concrete and debris from the work area, and dispose of waste materials properly.
• Work closely with other construction team members, such as concrete mixers, laborers, and supervisors, to ensure efficient and synchronized project progress.
• Communicate any issues or challenges related to concrete finishing promptly and suggest solutions to maintain project timelines and quality standards.
