Position Overview:

The Automotive Mechanic Helper will play an integral role in assisting mechanics with the repair and maintenance of various vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a hands-on attitude, a strong desire to learn, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced automotive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist mechanics with routine vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Help install, balance, and repair tires, ensuring proper inflation and alignment.
• Support in the installation of rims and other wheel-related accessories.
• Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance tasks on vehicles to ensure smooth operation.
• Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting minor mechanical issues in vehicles.
• Keep workspaces clean and organized, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly maintained.
• Prepare parts and tools for the mechanic, including fetching and returning tools and supplies as needed.
• Assist in testing and inspecting vehicles to ensure they meet safety and performance standards.
• Safely operate hoists, lifts, and other automotive repair equipment under supervision.
• Follow company safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
• Communicate with the lead mechanic regarding any vehicle issues, updates, or concerns.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• At least 2-3 years of experience in the automotive industry as a mechanic or helper.
• Previous experience in an automotive setting or mechanical environment is highly preferred;
• At least a high school diploma or equivalent is required – any additional certification in automotive services or related fields will be considered an asset;
• Familiarity with automotive tools, equipment, and processes is essential, including experience with hoists, lifts, and diagnostic tools;
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks in a busy work environment.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime, as needed.
• Basic English language skills to effectively communicate with team members and understand instructions.

Terms of Employment:

• Full-time, permanent job;
• Starting rate from $28.00-$35.00, commensurate to experience, for at least 30-40 hours per week;
• Overtime rate will apply after 44 hours of work per week;
• Location of work: 1600 Bayly Street, Unit #4, Pickering, ON, L1W 3N2;
