This is an outstanding opportunity to join our growing team, where the successful candidates will work with a group of professional engineers and specialists , and provide technical support and services, including those concerning chemical research and analysis and quality control, to those involved in the project management, commissioning qualification, and validation of processes, systems and facilities This role is based out of Toronto, ON.  Travel within the GTA is expected.

 

Responsibilities

  • Set up and conduct chemical experiments, tests and analyses using techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, physical and chemical separation techniques and microscopy;
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and apparatus such as fermentation, bioreactors, centrifugation, thawing, downstream purification processes (chromatography, TFF, NF, UF), fill and finish equipment, isolators, compounding, media preparation, CIP/SIP systems, buffer, buffer prep/hold, media prep/hold;
  • Washing and sterilization, clean utilities (PW, WFI, CS, PS, PCA, PN) for the use of preparing solutions of gas or liquid reagents, and sample formulations;
  • Compile records and interpret experimental or analytical results;
  • Develop and conduct programs of sampling and analysis to maintain quality standards of raw materials, chemical intermediates and products;
  • Assist in the development of chemical engineering processes, studies of chemical engineering procurement, construction, inspection and maintenance and the development of standards, procedures and health and safety measures;
  • Assist in the design and fabrication of experimental apparatus;

 

Qualifications:

  • College Diploma in Chemical, Biochemical, Microbiology, or chemical engineering
  • At least 2 years in setting up, conducting, and providing technical support for chemical experiments, including commissioning, qualification or validation of various systems within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry
  • Experience in conducting tests and analyses, including development of validation plans and development of installation verification, PQs for process equipment/utilities
  • Knowledge of SOP Development and Review, Facility Audit Mock Inspection, System Level Impact Assessment (SLIA), Component Level Impact Assessment (CLIA);
  • Previous experience in the pharmaceutical / biotech industry, with knowledge of requirements for a cGMP operation.
  • Experience with Qualification or Validation of clean utilities and ISO clean rooms.
  • Experience leading teams of Chemical Support team, Validation staff, manage staff priorities, provide mentorship/oversight, help staff resolve issues. Leadership is considered an asset, but not required.
  • Possess leadership skills, and be able to take initiative to lead projects, involving multiple stakeholders, departments, and varying complexity.
  • Possess mentorship skills, to coach and develop junior and intermediate employees.
  • Excellent English language skills.
  • Travel may be required on occasion.
  • Ability to travel to the US would be an asset.

WHAT WE OFFER
