Duties and Responsibilities:

• Inspect and assess the performance of diesel-powered machinery, including trucks, loaders, and other heavy equipment used in landscaping and transportation. Use diagnostic tools, similar to those in automotive work, to identify faults or malfunctions and determine necessary repairs.
• Replace and adjust defective parts, components, or systems on heavy machinery using a range of hand and power tools, applying precision skills gained from automotive repair practices. Ensure all adjustments and repairs meet manufacturers’ specifications, focusing on safety and operational reliability for transporting plant materials.
• Conduct post-repair testing of machinery to verify performance standards, drawing on methods used in automotive settings. Collaborate with senior mechanics to confirm that repaired equipment meets operational requirements, ensuring high performance and safety in the field.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubrication, and preventative care for heavy equipment. Service essential attachments and tools used in loading and transporting plant materials to ensure equipment is ready for daily operations, much like routine automotive maintenance.
• Maintain specialized tools and attachments, including loaders, trailers, and hydraulic lifts, used for transporting plant materials. Use familiarity with vehicle attachment maintenance to ensure these tools are fully operational and support efficient loading and shipping processes.
• Assist in assembling and adjusting new equipment, making modifications as needed to meet specific landscaping and transportation requirements. Apply knowledge of automotive assembly and adjustments to configure equipment for handling various plant materials and fulfilling customer orders efficiently.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role or relevant field, specifically in machinery or automotive mechanics
• Education in automotive or machine technology is an asset
• Proficiency in English is an asset
• Strong team player with the ability to work effectively under pressure
• Will work with senior mechanics
