Job Summary:
The Canadian Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Clinic Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Clinic Assistant, you will provide essential support to our healthcare professionals, enhancing patient care through Traditional Chinese Medicine practices.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assistance to Healthcare Professionals
– Support TCM practitioners, including acupuncturists and herbalists, by setting up treatment rooms, preparing herbal formulas, and assisting during procedures when required.
– Prepare acupuncture needles, herbal treatments, and other TCM-specific tools under licensed practitioners’ direction.
• Treatment Room Preparation and Maintenance
– Clean and sanitize treatment rooms and ensure they are organized and stocked with necessary supplies.
– Arrange and clean equipment, linens, and treatment materials between appointments.
• Patient Support and Care
– Welcome patients to the clinic, provide initial consultations, and ensure a comfortable experience.
– Assist patients in preparing for treatments and explain procedures in alignment with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practices.
• Inventory and Supplies Management
– Track and manage the inventory of herbal medicines, acupuncture needles, and other clinic supplies.
– Reorder supplies as needed, ensuring practitioners have the materials required for patient care.

• Coordination and Communication
– Serve as a liaison between patients and healthcare professionals, relaying patient needs and concerns.
– Collaborate with other clinic assistants and administrative staff to streamline clinic operations.
• Education and Cultural Sensitivity
– Provide patients with resources on TCM practices as directed by practitioners, with respect for cultural sensitivities.
– Educate patients on aftercare instructions, dietary advice, and lifestyle recommendations provided by practitioners.
• Quality Assurance
– Monitor and evaluate clinic procedures to uphold high standards of patient care and safety.
– Identify areas for improvement in operations and communicate recommendations to management.

Qualifications:
• Completion of secondary school is required.
• On-the-job training or several months of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a patient-centered approach.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and TCM practices is an asset.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with scheduling software.
