Key Responsibility of Early Childhood Educator

  • Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
  • To develop programming based on children’s needs, interests and abilities, and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members.
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, responsible for the constant supervision, safety and well being of the children
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioralproblems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
  • Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
  • Monitor children in indoor and outdoor activities and during rest periods; conduct activities with children on an individual and group basis.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • Ensure classroom safety as outlined by Child Care Licensing Regulation; follow proper Centre protocol.
  • Ability to problem-solve and respond to concerns of other staff and parents
  • Ensures the program operates at all times in compliance with all child care licensing standards
  • Plan and organize classroom layout.
  • Other job related tasks as assigned

Term of Employment

Start Date: as soon as possible

Period of employment: permanent

Type of work: Full time

Wage: $   18-20     /Hourly CAD. Overtime rate will be paid 1.5 times the regular rate if employees work more than 40.00 hours per week.

Work of Hours:    40     hour(s) per week.

Benefits:

  • There will be two weeks summer break and two weeks winter break according to the Holiday schedule of Windmill Children’s House Infant/Toddler, and you will receive 4% vacation pay of your gross earnings before each break.

Job Requirements

  • Completion of an early childhood education certificate program is required.
  • Licensing by provincial(BC) Early Childhood Educator registry for early childhood educators (ECE) is required.
  • Ability to work on a team basis with other staff members
  • Good communication skills; written and verbalin English
  • Work independently, self-starter, willingness to learn
  • Strong organizational & time management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Negative criminal records check.
  • Valid Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR
  • Experience: we will provide the necessary training.
