Work of Hours:    35-40     hour(s) per week.

The successful candidate will be responsible for working conditions and physical capabilities and meet the following qualifications:

• Completion of an early childhood education certificate program is required.
• Current BC License to Practice
• Ability to work on a team basis with other staff members
• Good communication skills; written and verbal in English
• Work independently, self-starter, willingness to learn
• Good interpersonal skills with children and families
• Strong organizational & time management skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
• Criminal Record Clearance Letter
• Valid Emergency Child Care First Aid & CPR Level “B”.

Job Requirements

• Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
• Shares in the responsibility for planning, preparing and implementing stimulating, age-appropriate activities that encourage children’s creativity and learning
• Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, responsible for the constant supervision, safety and well being of the children
• Recognizes and responds to the needs of each child by using developmentally appropriate teaching and child behaviour management techniques, and discusses progress or problems with parents and other staff members, ongoing liaison with parents and attending staff and parent meetings.
• Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
• Supervision of children ages 1 to 3 years old. Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
• Participates in the supervision, training and mentoring of children and supply teachers
• Shares responsibility for maintaining program equipment in good repair; assists with toy/equipment disinfecting
• Ensures the program operates at all times in compliance with all child care licensing standards
• Performs other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Centre Director or her/his designate
