Duration/Type: Full Time

Salary: $36.00-$40.00 per hour–The gross salary paid will be subject to all applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions.
Vacation: 4% of the gross salary
Hours of Work: 30-44 Hours a week. Overtime rate (X1.5) applicable after 44 hours of work per week

Position Summary:

The Truck Driver-Container Handler Operator is responsible for safely transporting containers, trailers, equipment, and freight to customer locations, terminals, warehouses, ports, and secure industrial project sites, while also operating container handling equipment to load, unload, stack, move, and position shipping containers within the yard. The role requires strong commercial driving skills, heavy equipment operating experience, and compliance with transportation, safety, and site access requirements.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate tractor-trailers, including B-train types, container chassis, tilt-deck (“tilt and load”) trailers, and lowboy trailers to transport containers, freight, and heavy equipment to scheduled destinations.
  • Comply with customer-specific site entry procedures, security clearance protocols, delivery scheduling windows, and controlled access requirements.
  • Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, chassis, and equipment.
  • Operate container handling equipment such as reach stackers, top handlers, forklifts, or similar heavy machinery to load, unload, lift, stack, and reposition shipping containers, including multi-level stacking.
  • Secure containers and cargo using locks, chains, straps, and other approved methods.
  • Coordinate container pickups and deliveries with dispatchers, warehouse staff, customers, and terminal personnel.
  • Comply with Ministry of Transportation, CVOR, cargo securement, workplace safety, and customer-specific access procedures.
  • Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, trip records, fuel records, and delivery paperwork.
  • Report defects, delays, incidents, or maintenance needs promptly and assist with route planning to meet delivery schedules.

Specific Job Requirements

  • Valid Ontario AZ Driver’s Licence in good standing with a clean CVOR and driver’s abstract
  • Minimum 1 year of verifiable AZ tractor-trailer driving experience, preferably involving container, freight, or intermodal transportation.
  • Minimum 1 year of verifiable experience operating container handling equipment such as reach stackers, forklifts, container loaders, or similar heavy machinery.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of load securement, transportation regulations, safety compliance, and controlled-access site procedures.
  • Ability to work independently, meet tight delivery schedules, and work extended hours or overtime when required.
