Drywall Installer and Finisher

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, and install drywall sheets on walls and ceilings according to blueprints, specifications, and project requirements.
• Apply drywall panels to metal or wooden framing using hand tools and power tools.
• Tape over joints and embed tape in joint compound to prepare surfaces for finishing.
• Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints to create smooth finished surfaces.
• Repair cracks, holes, and damaged drywall surfaces and match existing finishes.
• Install corner beads, metal trim, and other reinforcing materials to protect and finish drywall edges.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and coordinate work with supervisors and other trades on construction sites.
• Ensure compliance with workplace safety procedures, building standards, and company quality requirements.
• Inspect completed work to ensure proper alignment, smoothness, and finishing quality prior to painting or final inspection.
• Supervise junior workers/trainees on the job site as required.

Employment Requirements

• Prior work experience of 1–2 years in drywall, panel, or plasterboard installation is required.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, taping tools, sanding equipment, and other drywall installation and finishing equipment is required.
• Completion of secondary school is required.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including prolonged standing, bending, lifting, climbing ladders, and working in hard-to-reach areas throughout the shift. Strong hand-eye coordination is required.
• Ability to lift, carry, and handle materials weighing up to 100 lbs.
